Topics:
Scheduling across the year:
- This first half-term is reserved for TourAid fundraising. We are going to use this time to discuss and organize the rest of the year; it means we have plenty of potential for achievement.
- For the Half term after that (Oct.-Dec.) we have Sam S. leading Launchpad.
Next (Jan-Feb.) will be Jon M. leading Fountain of Life. Then lastly (Feb.-Apr.) will be Peter D. taking WWF. Meanwhile, fundraising for Young Minds (with Sam M.) and Rainedge School (with Seth P.) will run all year round.
Involving the Year 12s:
- We should organize an assembly for the year 12s, to get them aware of what's happening and hopefully involve some of them. Smit V. will be in charge of this, as he is the 'Communications/Promotions Officer'. The best time will be next Thursday (22nd Sep.), when the year 12s have an assembly - though of course some of us will have to miss year 13 chapel to go and present.
- We'll get the new year 12s to join any group to help out with organizing and fundraising. It may be worthwhile getting Akash N. to help present to the year 12s as well. We must remember that without us (i.e., when we graduate) there won't be anyone else to continue the effort unless a group of year 12s are actively involved.
Propositions on plans:
- Charity leaders need to make sure they contact their charities to establish a good communication. They will ask them about permission to run events, use logos etc, and will also discuss ideas and ask about possibly borrowing some resources (for promotion) e.g. wristbands, flyers etc.
- Communication is vital. We should set up some sort of big calendar (possibly website-based – probably google calendar based) so that we don't have any major clashes of fundraising events across the year, and so we can coordinate resources.
- By the end of this half-term, we should get all our plans set up. We have time until then, but the half-term itself should be a clear deadline for organization. We will have another large meeting before end of this half term to discuss what we have achieved.
- A monetary target for each charity would be a good idea. Last year's target was £5000; this was hit, and we even managed to raise more above that. It would be a worthwhile idea contacting individual charities to talk about suggestions for realistic and appreciated target donations.
Propositions on Events:
- We should aim to hold a 'homeclothes' day at the end of each half-term, meaning every group should have an opportunity to run one. It would be a good idea to mix up the themes a little to entice parents. One good idea, for example, would be a 'Bring Your Own Tie' day.
- We should make note of seasonal events, such as Halloween, Christmas, Easter, and so on, and target them. For example, we could have a Christmas pantomime, or Easter Egg Hunt.
- The rest of the discussion time was spent in individual groups, discussing ideas for what to run (and when).
